The devastated fiancée of a 26-year-old father who was killed when he fell out of her car said he was known as a prankster and would often jokingly scare her as they drove.
But when Emeka Udechuku opened the door as his wife-to-be Erin Lim drove him home after a night out in Darwin, at about 4:30am on Saturday, the joke took a tragic turn when he fell out of the car and hit his head.
'He used to open the door to scare me, he has opened and shut the door,' Ms Lim told NT News.
'I know that he would never leave us. He was so happy in life and looking forward to so many things to be planned,' she said.

Mr Udechuku had become a father to her son from a previous relationship and the two had a young daughter together
Just a week before the accident Mr Udechuku and Ms Lim were on a romantic trip in Phuket, Thailand, where he proposed to the mother-of-two.
'It was the most perfect and magical week and we were so happy everything was falling into place,' Ms Lim said.
Ms Lim said that her fiancé had become a father to her son from a previous relationship and the two had a young daughter together and were looking forward to moving in together and planning an engagement party.
His friends were very important to him and had become a part of his family, Ms Lim said.

After he was pronounced dead on Sunday, Mr Udechuku's friends shared their grief on social media and remembered him as 'a beautiful father and family man'.
'I'm absolutely numb and I still don't know how to express the loss of the best and most amazing person I have ever come across in my life,' friend Sam Dorling wrote on Facebook.
'My best friend, my brother, my shoulder to cry on, my party buddy and the key to happiness for myself and so many other people.

'I can't explain what kind of person he was. I've never met anyone like him. He could walk into a nightclub and the whole nightclub would feel different.
'Whatever was going on with you, you would call him and he fixed it.
'The whole town loved him. No one had a bad word to say about him.'
